Snow last week meant lots of family bonding time! Jillian was on Thanksgiving break, Sous had taken the week off, and school was canceled for Nate and I. Monday was spent enjoying the snow. It's been a long time since it snowed for an entire day here and we all loved it! We went sledding in the morning (see video below), came home for hot cocoa and then Sous and Jillian went out sledding again in the afternoon while Nate and I enjoyed watching the falling snow from the warmth of our house. Truly felt like a vacation day!
The rest of the week was spent with the Sousley side of the family. John and Joan arrived on Tuesday and stayed until Sunday - such a fun long visit with them! While they were in town we saw Santa, visited the spawning salmon at Carkeek Park and played lots and lots of Funny Bunny and Thomas (Jillian and Nate's new favorite games). Justin and I also got a few precious moments to ourselves thanks to Grandma and Grandpa. One trip to the grocery store and a double date with Max and Gina! We went to the Picasso exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum and visited some of our favorite downtown establishments for cocktails. Thank you for restoring our sanity Mom Joan and Dad John!
This week started off with all of us trying to get back in the swing of things. Nate was a bit more clingy than usual at drop off time and I was trying to get re-motivated where school was concerned (finals next week!). Then today poor Jillian fell as we headed out the door to walk to school. She hit her head so hard on the planter on the porch that she knocked it over and got a huge gash right above her eye. I knew immediately when I saw it that she was going to need stitches. Yep, 6 of them. My poor girl. The whole process of getting the stitches was pretty traumatic, but she was such a trooper. She is pretty concerned about anybody seeing her "look different" so getting her to school tomorrow could be interesting! Oh the challenges and heartbreaks of parenthood are plenty, as are the challenges and heartbreaks of childhood! :)

Owie--poor Jillian and poor Mama. . .practically makes me want to cry thinking about it happening. I am so glad she is a doing better-she looks beautiful in the pic w/ her stitches. . .like she has a little make up on. :)
Sisters must think alike:)...I was going to say the same thing!! She looks beautiful, like she put on some fancy make-up for the day.
Only Jill could look cute with stitches and a black eye...you can still see the beautiful blue eyes, smiling through it. Sorry, Jill!!! Love g/ma & g/pa Yakima
Oh my gosh, I have tears filling my eyes and can barely see what I'm typing! That must have been so scary for you all, I'm so glad she is okay. I hope her return to Kindergarten was a good one. What I've learned so far about being a K teacher is that this age is pretty compassionate towards their classmates.
Your holiday sounded wonderful!
