Jillian's birthday started with a pre-school field trip to Camp Long in West Seattle. I took the day off so I could go along and we had a great time. The theme of the trip was "animal homes" and we saw many! We ended our walk through the forest with birthday cookies.

The celebration continued that evening with Grandma and Grandpa Sousley. We ordered take out, Jill opened presents and enjoyed some strawberry ice cream!

Saturday was a big day. Jillian, her friend Frankie and I went on an adventure. We started at "Build a Bear" in Bellevue Square. Ironically enough, Jillian chose a cat and a barking sound. Frankie chose a dog with a meowing sound. So cute. Jill named her cat Lewis and Frankie named her dog Emily. In retrospect I realized that the girls were probably a little young for the whole experience, but they had a great time anyway. After "Build a Bear" we made our way to the boat toy at Bell Square so the girls could burn some energy. Then we went to McDonald's for a nutritious(!) Happy Meal. :)

Later that day Mark, Sandy, Frankie, Gus, Paul, Karen, Sam and Pete came over for the grand finale birthday bbq. Thankfully it was nice enough for us to enjoy the afternoon in the backyard.
Three years old - I just can't believe it. We're finding that the three's are both adorable and challenging. We hear a lot of "no you're not," "no I'm not," "no I didn't," "no I won't," but then every once in awhile out of the blue we get an "I love you." That makes it all worthwhile.
