Firsts

The Sousley family has experienced many firsts over the past few months:

Jillian takes a trip without Mommy and Daddy!
In May Jillian went to visit Gma and Gpa Sousley in Yakima for two nights - all by herself! She had so much fun playing in the yard, going to Starbuck's with Grandma, visiting Great Grandma Betty and much, much more! Although our house was almost too quiet while she was gone, we were quick to ask "when can we do this again???" upon her return! (Wish I had some pics to share.)

Jillian meets Diego!
My friend and co-worker Stacy invited us out to Woodinville to meet her horse Diego. Jillian was beside herself given the name of the horse. She talked for days about how she was going to feed Diego bananas. Upon arrival at the barn however Jillian was much more interested in the mud puddles than the horses. Oh well. It was a fun adventure!

Picnic in the park!
It MIGHT finally be summer here in Seattle. On Friday night we took advantage of a warm evening and took the kids to Green Lake for a picnic in the park. We filled our night with pita and hummus, underdogs on the swings and ice cream cones from Baskin and Robbins. Fun times!

Solids!
We've been holding off on giving Nathan solids because of his eczema, but since his 6 month birthday is this Thursday we decided to try some bananas this weekend. The little guy, who by the way is now eating 8 oz bottles at each feeding, was surprisingly indifferent to solids. I'm sure that will change very soon. Jillian was her usual helpful self (!). She was sure that Nathan wanted MORE, MORE, MORE. Nathan tried to convince her otherwise and the result can be seen in the picture below.

Oh, one more - tomorrow Jillian moves upstairs to the pre-school at daycare. She is moving up two months early because they have finally taken pitty on her and the fact that she is currently much older than any of the kids in the toddler/waddler room. One challenge. Moving up to the pre-school usually requires that the child be potty trained. Jillian is not. In fact Jillian shows little interest in going potty on the potty. But tomorrow things will change. We've spent all weekend hyping up her big girl underwear. We feel ok about forcing the issue since she'll be three just two months from today. It's time! I'll let you know how it goes...
