Lesson Learned

Eight hours sleep + newborn = something not right. My mom radar started to go up on Friday when Nathan continued to sleep for long stretches and didn't seem too interested in eating when I would wake him up. After several discussions with the nurses we took him to the doctor on Saturday morning. She found that he had a fever and also was a bit concerned about his breathing so she sent us over to Children's Hospital and Nathan was admitted for testing. Children's is such a wonderful and scary place to be. We knew we were in great hands, but seeing all of those kids who are REALLY sick was heartbreaking.

After a long 48 hour wait, all of the tests for bacterial infections came back negative. In the end the diagnosis was a viral infection of some sort. We were able to come home last night with no medications, just a directive to take Nathan's temperature every 4-6 hours for the next 24 hours. He hasn't had a fever since Saturday night and is doing well. We're so glad to be home and look forward to getting back in to a routine over the next few days.

Must go catch some zzzz's before this little guy wakes up! :)
