This quarter has been busier than usual from the get go. It's not so much school that is busier, it's life! Gone are the days of having time to squeeze in some homework after class before going to pick up the kids. Jillian's school gets out at 3:10 and I am able to pick her up three days a week (the days I don't have afternoon classes). I've been feeling lately like this is yet another "silver lining" reason why I lost my job at WaMu. If I were working full time right now I wouldn't have the luxury of walking Jillian to school each day and being there to pick her up in the afternoon. I love seeing her smiling face as the door to her classroom opens and we get to spend some quality time on our walks to and from school. Life is busy...life is good.
A few random things for tonight because my attention span is shot from studying non-stop over the past few days for my art history midterm on Thursday. It can't get here fast enough!
- Random thing #1 - I heard a song today that I absolutely loved! Check it out on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dPMP16R_qA. Do you love it as much as I do?
- Random thing #2 - Nate is making huge progress with potty training! Not sure when the switch flipped but he went from being not that interested to insisting on wearing pull ups and underwear. Good thing we didn't open that last box of diapers from Costco - it's going back! I can't believe he will be 3 in just two months. I sort of want to freeze him at this age so he doesn't get any bigger. :)
- Random thing #2 - Conversation with Jillian on the walk home from school today:
(Context: Jillian was talking about a boy in her class who brought his cat for show and tell.)
Jillian - Mommy, can I bring Sal for show and tell?
Me - Well, don't you think Sal might be scared if you bring him for show and tell?
Jillian - Awwwww! Please Mommy? You could just hold on to him.
Me - You will have to talk to your dad because he is the one who would have to bring him. Sal is way too big for me to hold on to.
Jillian - Daddy's not the one who's supposed to do my stuff. He has to go to work.
At this, I just smiled. It's amazing to me how intuitive kids are. Jillian has made several comments lately that have caused us to realize how tuned in to gender roles she is right now. It will be interesting to see what happens with this when I head back to work next spring. In the meantime it makes for interesting conversation with her! - Random thing #3 - a new picture! We took the kids to the Puyallup Fair for the first time this year. They had a blast. Our plan for spending a little bit of time on the rides, a little bit of seeing the animals and a little bit of time eating (krusty pups!) was quickly discarded upon arrival. The kids were only interested in the rides!

For some reason your posts always make me cry--a good cry...so sweet Molly.
Priceless picture!
I'm not sure if G/pa & G/ma Boise had the same experience, but I can tell you Robb & J ONLY cared about the rides and the carnies...they loved those "games of chance"! Love from Gma & Gpa Yakima
LOVE the smiles on those two!!! How fun!
Too cute!
Love that pic! :)
