An end to the suspense

Some good guesses on reason #2! You all know me well. You were right on about the connection between "Eight Legs" and my extreme (on the verge of irrational) fear of spiders. Annie was on to the other half of the equation with her idea about a business...

Since I began creating my own greeting cards I have loved brainstorming potential names for my "brand" of cards. This stems from my (pipe)dream of one day becoming a graphic designer and spending my days designing wine bottle labels, business logos, stationary sets, etc. So as I was thinking about names one day, I thought to myself - what is keeping me from following this dream? The answer that immediately came to mind was "fear." Fear was closely followed by "spiders," then "eight legs," then later, as I was trying to figure out how I was going to create a logo for a company called "Eight Legs" WITHOUT a spider in it, I thought of eight legs, two adults and two children - our future family. So the new name of our blog is a representation of the family that we will have come January and also of hope -a hope that someday I will have the courage (and the ambition!) to start my own company or at least to break out of the corporate world and find a way to incorporate creativity in to my career.

So there you have it - my stream of consciousness in coming up with "Eight Legs." :)
