ho pokey!

I was browsing through old photos tonight and came across this one. It reminds me that past moments can be very telling about what is to come. This picture is so Jillian - both back then and today - I call her Miss Independent! Thought I would share a few of my latest favorite sayings and moments...
  • Lately we've been taking Jillian down to Golden Gardens on nice evenings. She loves it so much that several nights a week we hear an emphatic "beach" from the back seat on the way home from work.
  • Cough, sneeze or blow your nose and you'll get a "bless you mommy." So sweet.
  • "More" is never said once and is pronouced "mo." We hear a lot of "mo, mo" this and "mo, mo" that. My favorite is "mo, mo big twucks."
  • The other night Jillian walked up to Sous and I with her baby and said "baby sad." I asked "why is the baby sad? " to which Jillian responded "get owies."
  • The response to any yes or no question is a very clear and distinct "Ok." "Jillian do you want to wear this shirt or this shirt?" "Ok." "Jillian do you want a brother or a sister?" "Ok."
  • Justin is often called "Sous" or "Uncle Sous" (to his dismay - he wants to be daddy!) It's pretty cute though.
  • A few weekends ago we were laying in bed and all of a sudden out of the blue we hear "Get up. (pause) Ok." I guess she had decided it was time!
  • Almost every morning when we go in to get Jillian out of her crib she says "get outta here," meaning get me out of here!
  • At Jillian's daycare the kids are taught to ask other kids to "walk away" when they are feeling frustrated and need some space. At first we thought, this is great, Jillian is learning to use her words instead of acting out. One tiny little problem - what is logical to an adult is not always logical to a two year old (a lesson we re-learn over and over again lately). Needless to say, Justin and I get a response of "walk away" every time we ask Jillian to do something she doesn't want to do. Thank you daycare.
  • HO POKEY! We learned last night that Jillian knows the Hokey Pokey. Well "knows" is probably a stretch, but she gets really excited when you sing it, shakes her body and turns herself around when the song says to and the cutest part is that the only word she knows in the song is "about." So each time you get to the "that's what it's all about" part she looks at you with anticipation and then yells (and I mean yells), "ABOUT!" It's super cute. We'll try to get a video to share.

Ah, kids are definitely a good source of constant entertainment! Must go rest up now - Jillian and I are on our own this weekend since Justin is up in Vancouver/Whistler for Dr. Matt's bachelor party. Next weekend my parents are coming to watch Jillian for the weekend and Justin and I are headed up to Vancouver for Dr. Matt's wedding. I'm excited to get away, although I definitely will miss Jillian. Probably won't miss the 6:30 wake up calls though (sorry mom and dad!). :) Ta, ta!

Molly,
I think it's so great that you take the time to jot these things down. Jillian is going to truly cherish having these memories to smile about. My two favorites are "bless you" and "Sous/Uncle Sous" but Sous wanting her to say Daddy. She'll come around. :) Thanks for sharing.
