2006 Christmas in Review

As I sit here and enjoy the snowy landscape I am reminded of Christmas 2006. Yes, it already seems like it was THAT long ago. Anyway, I have been meaning to share some of our memories so here goes!

Our holiday fun started out with a trip up to Matthews Beach (just 5 minutes from our house!) to see the Christmas ships. The ships pull up along shore and Christmas carols are broadcast over loudspeakers. There was even a bonfire! This is something that I have wanted to do for many years and we've just never made the time. I'm so glad we went this year - one of many traditions we established for years to come!

Jillian was not a huge fan this year. We've decided that her mood is inversely proportionate to the amount of clothes she has on. Needless to say, she (and we) can't wait for summer!

On Christmas Eve we all put on our Sunday best and went down to Etta's for breakfast. Yum!

Then the girls (with the exception of Jillian who went home to take a snooze) went in to town to do some last minute shopping...for ourselves...oops. This was fun! It's been a long time since I have been shopping with the girls!

Once Jillian was nestled all snug in her bed, we gathered 'round our HUGE Christmas tree for a photo (can you see it?). So many presents! And this doesn't even include the sleighfull that the Sousley side delivered the next morning!

Jillian was a big fan of the frog boots we got her. Don't be fooled by this picture though, overall there wasn't much of an interest in presents this year. I'm sure that next year will be a whole different story!

Christmas morning was crazy! Lots of eating, chatting and present opening. Sal went a little overboard. We're going to have to keep an eye on him...

The afternoon was spent over at Chris and Robb's - eating (again!), chatting (again!) and playing games.

We had a great time visiting with both of our families!

For 2007 my goal is to have a less stressful holiday season. This means shopping early and taking time to do the things I enjoy, like creating holiday traditions for our little family, things we can do every year to get in the spirit. Will someone volunteer to remind me of this goal 10 months from now? I just know I am going to forget...
